Luis, Angel on speaking terms again

MANILA - Luis Manzano and Angel Locsin are now on speaking terms again.

During the cast party of Star Cinema's "In My Life," Manzano shared that Locsin “wished him well” before the premiere night of his first movie with his mom, Star for All Seasons and Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, at the Trinoma Mall in Quezon City.

"Basta we have our form of communication. And once in a while ay nagkakausap kami and she wished me well sa premiere," Manzano told “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon.”

Despite their issues, the “Entertainment Live” host said he is glad to know that Locsin is always there to support him.

It has been widely reported that the couple is going through what Manzano called a “phase” right now, but the actor refused to elaborate. He also did not categorically say if he and the “Only You” actress had separated.

Manzano, son of Santos and Edu Manzano, has been romantically linked to Maricar Reyes and his best friend, actress Anne Curtis. He denied the reports.

Luis Manzano keeps a lid on rumored split with Angel Locsin

Talks are ripe that Luis Manzano and girlfriend Angel Locsin have called it quits after they were seen snubbing each other in an “ASAP” segment.

Luis Manzano was quick to admit that they are going through “something,” but he refused to divulge details.

"Whatever our reasons or disagreements…it’s between us. No there’s no third party involved,” said he.

Prodded further, Vilma Santos’ son said the issue was not because of scheduling. "It's not also [because we lack] time. We don’t bother with that because we respect each other’s schedules. We will never fight just because of something so petty [as time].”

Manzano is hopeful that they’ll both be able to settle the matter soon.

"Right now, we're trying to work things out. Hopefully, we will be able to fix this."

It should be remembered that the couple almost broke up early this year with Locsin even changing her Facebook status to "not in a relationship."

Locsin is now in South Korea filming a TV commercial. Her manager, Becky Aguila, said she’s clueless about the break-up issue and all she knows is that Angel and Luis had a misunderstanding.

Aguila also said that she and Angel are extending their stay in South Korea for a “vacation.”

(UPDATE) Maricar Reyes behind Luis-Angel ‘rift?’

MANILA – Is Maricar Reyes behind the reported rift between sweethearts Luis Manzano and Angel Locsin?

In a press conference for his upcoming film, “In My Life,” Tuesday, Manzano admitted that he and Locsin’s relationship is going through what he called a “phase” right now, but he quickly added that Reyes has nothing to do with it.

“I’d been hearing the weirdest stories, I don’t need to elaborate. Ang sinabi ko never was, never is, walang third party,” Manzano said.

Reyes was supposed to be Manzano’s leading lady in his now defunct television series, “Flash Bomba.” The plan did not push through and she was replaced by Roxanne Guinoo.

The actor, son of Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos and “Game KNB?” host Edu Manzano, maintained that his relationship with Locsin is private.

“It’s not a showbiz thing, iyong sa aming dalawa. It’s very personal…. Kung paano namin pino-protektahan iyong isa’t isa noong nagsimula kami, ganoon din namin pro-protektahan iyong phase na ito,” he said.

He also shot down rumors romantically linking him to his best friend, Anne Curtis.
“Pati ba naman sa amin ni Anne [ini-intriga]. Everyone knows kung ano ang relasyon namin ni Anne. I don’t need to elaborate,” he said.

“I don’t want to give you false answers. I’d tell you straight up na hindi ko pag-uusapan iyong kung ano man ang pinagdadaanan namin ni Angel. So instead of paikut-ikotin ko ang kwento, I’d tell everyone right now [that] I’d rather talk about the movie,” he added.

Cold shoulder?

A lot of people noticed the coldness between the two when Locsin did a production number on musical variety show “ASAP ’09.” Manzano also reportedly did not go to her dressing room.

They both refused to talk about the issue when they were interviewed separately. Speculations about the real status of their relationship then surfaced.

Manzano also hinted that the reported rift was a factor why Locsin was not able to host the fourth episode of the five-part TV special of his mom as what was originally planned.

“Hindi naman sa kasama iyon sa pinagdadaanan. Siguro, there were things na nakadagdag lang sa choices namin noong time na iyon.”

“Pero sana lang hindi pinapangunahan ang kung ano man. Huwag tayong humusga agad kung ano man iyon reason kung bakit hindi niya ginawa. I am sure there's something behind it naman talaga. Hindi naman siya basta-basta magti-trip na hindi pupunta sa taping. We all know Angel as a very, very professional artist. Hinding-hindi siya ganoon,” he said.

Manzano said he and Locsin are talking and trying to work things out.

Curtis reacts on ‘break-up’ issue

When sought for reaction, Curtis, meanwhile, said she hopes that Manzano and Locsin will be able to patch things up.

"You know, whatever it is, I know that they will be able to handle it. Kung mayroon mang problema, I hope they will be able to fix it," she said.

Curtis said she is in constant communication with Manzano. She assured that the actor is doing good.

"Nakakapag-usap kami. I see him on ‘ASAP’ and okay siya,” Curtis said. -Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com, and Rachelle Siazon, ABS-CBN.com

Sam distances self from Luis-Angel 'break-up'

MANILA - Actor Sam Milby on Thursday vehemently denied that he is involved in the reported break-up of actress Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano.

Milby guessed that his name has been dragged into the issue because he worked with Locsin on "Only You." He, however, maintained that he is “definitely not part of the reason at all.”

"I think it's kinda sad that I was brought in. Wala akong alam [na rason o dahilan] kung ano ang nangyari sa kanila. And I think if you gonna ask them naman, I have no involvement naman on what's going on with them,” he said after signing an endorsement contract with Dermablend.

"I never should be brought into the whole situation,” he added.

Milby admitted that he noticed during the last taping days of “Only You” that something was bothering Locsin. He said though that the actress did not talk about her problem.

The actor also defended former girlfriend Anne Curtis who, like him, was linked to the alleged Manzano-Locsin separation.

"Matagal na silang magkaibigan ni Luis, hindi ba? So I don't see why she would be the reason,” he said.

Like their other friends in show business, Milby also hopes that Manzano and Locsin will resolve their issues soon.

Luis denies breakup with Angel

MANILA, Philippines—Luis Manzano has denied rumors that he and girlfriend Angel Locsin have broken up and insisted that they are merely going through a “phase.”

“In the beginning, we agreed to protect our relationship by keeping it private,” the actor said during Tuesday’s press conference for his movie “In My Life.” “It’s only proper that we treat this phase the same way. I don’t want to answer questions about Angel. What’s between us is very personal.”

Tabloid reports said Angel called it quits with Luis after he was romantically linked with actress Maricar Reyes. The actor denied this as well. He said all he knew about Maricar was that she was supposed to be his love-team partner in the defunct show “Flash Bomba.” Maricar was replaced by Roxanne Guinoo.

“I’ve been hearing the weirdest stories,” said Luis, who claimed to be in constant communication with Angel. “There’s no third party—there never was.”

Luis also clarified that Angel meant well when she praised Nora Aunor, screen rival of his mom Vilma Santos.

“I heard that Vilmanians felt bad because of a comment Angel made about Ms Nora Aunor when she did the remake of ‘Himala’,” he said. “When Angel said Ms Nora is a good actress, that did not mean she disrespected Mommy. Ms Nora is really good at what she does, even the Vilmanians know that.”

Tabloids reported that Angel’s absence from the TV special titled “Vilma: A Woman for All Seasons” also drew negative reactions from Vilmanians. Luis came to her defense, saying Angel is a professional and that she had reasons for turning down the project.

Luis plays the role of Mark in the Olivia Lamasan film “In My Life,” written by Raymond Lee and Senedy Que, which premieres in local theaters on Sept. 16. Vilma is Shirley, mother of Mark, her estranged gay son who is suffering from colon cancer. John Lloyd Cruz is Noel, Mark’s lover.
