Gov. Vi speaks on Luis' new courtship of Angel

MANILA, Philippines - Star for All Seasons and current Batangas Governor Vilma Santos has given her thoughts on the reports that her son Lucky "Luis" Manzano is again courting his ex-girlfriend actress Angel Locsin.

Santos, who is seeking re-election as governor of Batangas, said she does not want to meddle in her son's love life.

The governor said she's just happy that Angel and Luis are friends again.

She said what is important is the couple's respect for each other.

"They are friends I don't usually meddle with their love lives, or the love life of my son. Ang importante lang dito, as long as they will stay as good friends, tama na sa akin 'yon, maiwan lang 'yong respeto nila sa isa't isa," Santos said.

Last month, Luis admitted that he was again courting his former sweetheart.

He said that he was doing his best to win back the heart of Locsin, and to make up for all of his mistakes in the past. He also realized that Locsin is a girl worth fighting for.

Manzano pursued Locsin again after reports surfaced that 2009 CNN Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida was courting the actress.

Locsin later denied there was an on-going battle between her new suitor and former boyfriend Manzano.

She explained that she doesn't want to give anybody false hopes, especially Peñaflorida, who gained international recognition for his efforts in educating out-of-school Filipino youth.

However, Locsin told the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year she will always have her support, and added that Manzano does not feel threatened by Peñaflorida.

Locsin also said she was glad that she and Manzano are on speaking terms again.

Locsin is currently engaged in her upcoming series "Kokey @ Ako", while Manzano stars in ABS-CBN's "Your Song Presents: My Last Romance" with Toni Gonzaga.

Manzano will also be hosting ABS-CBN's upcoming talent show "Pilipinas Got Talent" with international performer Billy Crawford.

Angel Locsin, Daniel Razon shortlisted in Twitter contest in New York

Film and TV actress Angel Locsin and veteran broadcast journalist Daniel Razon made it to the official lists of the Shorty Awards, a competition for real-time, short-form content.

Shorty Awards, considered the Oscars for Twitter writers, announced the list of finalists, including the names of Locsin under the Best Twitter Celebrity category and Razon in the Best Journalist in Twitter, two official categories. Awarding is set on March 3 at the Times Center in The New York Times Building, thanks to support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

According to the press release from Shorty, over 250,000 nominations have been tweeted for The Shorty Awards to determine the six finalists in each of the 26 official categories.

The Shorty Awards has partnered with sponsors including PepsiCo for the Innovation category, Marketwire for the Journalist category and Porter Novelli for the Advertising category.

Some notable finalists include Haiti resident and TV presenter Carel Pedre @carelpedre, actor Steven Fry @stevenfry, Grammy Award-winning Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo @ivetesangalo, personal finance TV host and author Suze Orman @SuzeOrmanShow, actor and comedian Marlon Waynes @marlonwayans and MythBuster co-host Adam Savage @donttrythis. Professional differences led Becky Aguila to part ways with Angel Locsin

Talent manager Becky Aguila acknowledged the statement of her former ward Angel Locsin that their separation was done amicably.



In an article published earlier today, February 11, here in PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), actress Angel Locsin confirmed that she is no longer under Becky's watch. The talent-manager relationship between the two had been a source of speculation in the past few months. (CLICK HERE to read related story.)



Initially, some thought that Angel would join Viva Artist Agency, given Becky's decision to sign a co-management deal with the said group in overseeing the careers of Jennylyn Mercado and Valerie Concepcion. Talent manager-host Boy Abunda was also mentioned as a possible candidate to assume Becky's role.



Angel's new manager, however, turned out to be veteran entertainment columnist Ethel Ramos, who is also widely known in the showbiz circuit as the manager of Aga Muhlach.



MUTUAL DECISION. "Nag-usap kami nang maayos ni Angel. Napagkasunduan naming dalawa ang maghiwalay. Mutual decision," Becky informed PEP through a text message sent earlier today, February 11.



Obviously, the decision to let go of the partnership was a tough choice, especially for Becky. She and Angel had a long history together starting from Angel's rise to stardom as part of GMA-7's roster of young talents to her controversial transfer to rival network ABS-CBN. The sudden shift in network alliance earned both Angel and Becky a lot of harsh criticism.



"Magkasama kami sa hirap at ginhawa for eight years. Marami kaming pagsubok na dinaanan. May hangganan ang lahat. Nothing permanent except change. Basta ang imporante ay nagkahiwalay kami nang maayos," continued Becky's text message.



Becky proudly mentioned that she was still able to secure certain pending deals for Angel, including a network contract and product endorsements, before they parted ways.



"For the rest of the commercial inquiries and endorsement renewals, ipanasa ko na kay Angel para si Manay Ethel na ang makipag-negotiate with the clients."



GROWING DIFFERENCES. "Nothing to do with money matters," Becky said about the decision to end the partnership.



Rather, they agreed to disagree. According to Becky, she and Angel have contrasting visions on the actress's career path: "Marami na kaming di napagkakasunduan. May sarili nang ideas at konsepto si Angel na naiintindihan ko naman because she's young... Life goes on."



No hard feelings, declared the talent manager, despite their growing differences. Becky is even confident that Angel will be in "good hands" with Ethel as her manager.



"Isa ring kagalang-galang na haligi ng showbiz si Manay Ethel, kaya alam ko na maaalagaan niya si Angel, kagaya ng pagmamahal at pag-aaruga ng ibinigay ko sa kanya nung kami pa."



In closing, Becky stressed her good wishes. "Ang importante sa isang samahan ay ang meeting of the hearts and minds. It's time to let go and move on. Part ways as friends and wish each other good luck for good karma."

Angel picks Luis over Efren?

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN contract star Angel Locsin said she is not open to being courted by 2009 CNN "Hero of the Year" Efren Peñaflorida at the moment.

In an interview, Locsin stressed that she and Peñaflorida are just good friends. "Iki-clear ko lang 'yon. Hindi ako nagpapaligaw. Right now, we are good friends," Locsin said.

(I'd just like to clarify. I am not open to being courted. Right now, we are just good friends.)

Though she has seemingly rebuffed Peñaflorida's romantic advances, she says they are in constant communication and even go out with his students on occasion.

"Minsan, pumunta sa bahay kasama ang mga kids. Minsan, lumabas kami, nanood ng sine. Kasama namin 'yong mga bata din," Locsin said.

(One time, he came to the house with the kids. One time, we went out and we watched a movie. We were with the kids also.)

Locsin said she is letting Peñaflorida down easy before things get too serious. "I just want to be true to myself and wouldn't want to give him any false hopes," she said.

Considering ex

Meanwhile, Locsin is reportedly back on speaking terms with ex-boyfriend Luis Manzano.

She said this is one of the reasons why she has graciously declined to be courted by Peñaflorida.

"Ayaw ko na kausap ko si Luis, may kausap akong iba. Ayaw ko namang nagpapaasa sa isang taong nage-effiort. (I don't want to entertain Luis while I'm entertaining others. I don't want to lead on someone who is making an effort)," Locsin said.

Last week, Manzano admitted to "The Buzz" and "Entertainment Live" that he is courting Locsin again.

"I'm trying to win her back and make up for my mistakes in the past. I realized she's a good girl worth fight for," Manzano said.

Though open to talks with her ex, Locsin said she won't jump into a relationship so easily. The actress said Manzano visits her at home and she agrees to come down and see him.

"May effort naman so na-appreciate ko naman 'yon. Tignan natin kung ano ang mangyayari. (There's an effort, so I appreciate that. Let's see what happens)," she said.

"Hindi naman kami nagmamadali pero hindi naman maalis kung gaano ka-special sa akin si Luis. Pero right now ayaw ko munang pumasok sa relationship," Locsin said.

(We're in no rush, but Luis will always be special to me. But right now, I don't want to go into a relationship.)

Manzano was lukewarm to Peñaflorida's plans to woo his ex-girlfriend. He stated, however, that he respects Peñaflorida's work as a social worker who teaches out-of-school youth through his "Pushcart Classes" project.

Dealing not only with predicted reunion with ex-boyfriend Luis Manzano and imploring the friendship-first-clause with suitor CNN Hero Efren Peñaflorida, Angel Locsin also has to deal with rumors saying that she is out of talent manager Becky Aguila’s management.

In her statement in Pep.ph, Angel intriguingly commented, “Hindi ko masasagot ‘yan, ‘saka hindi na muna ako magko-comment tungkol diyan.”

Angel will soon be seen in “Kokey” with Vhong Navarro, and another soap pairing her for the first time with John Lloyd Cruz.

Hero woos Angel

Everyday hero is in love with a “superheroine”. Sounds like a movie plot? I’m actually referring to CNN Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida, who is reportedly seriously wooing actress Angel Locsin. A favorite subject of many “testosterone-fueled” fantasies, Angel first became popular by portraying superheroine roles in GMA 7 fantaseryes, the most memorable of which was “Darna”—the highest-rated show in primetime history.

The news about the Efren-Angel courtship broke out when (the now ABS-CBN talent) Angel was interviewed on “The Buzz” last Sunday. It was followed by Efren’s confirmation on GMA 7’s “24 Oras” last Tuesday.

The 28-year-old Efren, we learned, has been smitten with the 24-year-old Angel since 2004. He apparently harbored this crush through the years, even admitting to praying over it. So, when he finally met Angel on a flight to the US last November—she to the International Emmys and he to the CNN awarding ceremonies—it must have felt like an answered prayer.

Knowing what we know of this actress, who’s also known for her own nonstop charity work, we could safely deduce that Angel reacted towards Efren like a starstruck fan herself, perhaps heaping praises on Efren for his heroic feat just like any proud Pinoy would do. He, after all, rose from poverty and troubled youth to be an award-winning teacher and personal hero to hundreds of underprivileged kids thanks to his innovative pushcart classroom.

Obviously, Efren gleaned enough encouragement from that serendipitous encounter to pursue the lovely Angel.

Efren has already taken the next big step by visiting Angel’s abode and facing her father to express his intentions to court in earnest. Angel, who is said to be still smarting from her breakup with fellow actor Luis Manzano, offered an answer already. And it doesn’t sound like a rebuff to me. Here’s what she said: “Dahil nga magulo ang buhay ko dahil nasa showbiz ako, ayokong ‘yong hope na mabibigay niya sa mga tao maapektuhan dahil sa akin. Sinabi ko sa kanya kung ready na ba siya na harapin ‘yong mga iyon... Gusto ko friendship muna. Kilalanin niya muna ako.”

This story is currently ranked as the most read item this week in the entertainment news portal Pep.ph, spawning follow-ups including an interview with Luis, as expected, and eliciting hundreds of comments.

“Has popularity gone to his head?” one posted. Another wondered if Efren, who never ever had a girlfriend, read into the meaning of that chance encounter more than he was supposed to. Some simply didn’t like how Efren and Angel would look together from what we gathered in the reactions in sulit.com.ph’s online poll: Do you like Efren Peñaflorida for Angel Locsin? It seems that whatever his merits are, they’re simply eclipsed by his lack of movie star appeal. The media babies that we are, overfed with stereotypes, we hanker for superstar-in-the-making Angel to end up, in reel and real life, with the likes of her past boyfriends Oyo Boy Sotto and Manzano, who is reportedly trying to win her back.

There are also some of us rooting for Efren to go get the girl. “It must be God’s will,” Efren himself said of that chance meeting that started the ball rolling, so to speak, on “24 Oras.” And as the film “V for Vendetta” puts it: there are no coincidences, only the illusion of coincidence. (Team Efren, anyone?)

While this news has the elements of a movie story, I hope, however, that this plays out in privacy. In that way, the guy, who wears his heart on his sleeve, avoids the vicious showbiz trap, wherein this issue can be exploited to generate controversy.

For the pride he has given us last year, let’s all hope for our CNN Hero of the Year (and make that for the rest of us as well) the best in life and in love this year.

Efren’s ‘love letter’ to Angel

Efren Penaflorida’s message for Angel Locsin written at the back of his calling card was revealed on “Entertainment Live.”

It is recalled that the two first met at the airport on Nov. 19, 2009 when Efren was on his way to the CNN Heroes event while Angel was en route to the International Emmy Awards.

The letter read: “Dear Ms. Colmenares, I’ve always been praying for you and I will always pray for you. Let me be your distant warrior. God heard me when I met you unexpectedly today. Please continue your noble service. I admire you for that. Sincerely, Efren.”

In an interview with ABS-CBN, the self-confessed no-girlfriend-since-birth CNN Hero of 2009 said he has been “waiting for one great love na ibibigay sa’kin.”

Should he and Angel end up as husband and wife in the end, Efren assured that “mamahalin ko siya nang buong-buo.”

Luis Manzano leaves ‘E-Live’ for ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’

Luis Manzano will leave “Entertainment Live” for the talent search show, “Pilipinas Got Talent.”

The last appearance of the actor-host in the afternoon talk show was on Jan. 9.

Luis, who is trying to win his ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin back, said he does not feel threatened that a number of gentlemen had made known their intentions to the beautiful actress.

“Nung kami pa nga ni Angel, it’s one of those things na pag magkasama kami sa mall, I know for a fact that at least 99% of the guys admire Angel. Ayokong isipin [‘yung competition]. We’re starting over, [so] might as well start the right way,” said he.

Zanjoe spent holidays with Mariel

Kapamilya actor Zanjoe Marudo spent Christmas and New Year with girlfriend Mariel Rodriguez and her family.

“Nung New Year nandun ako sa pamilya niya. Nung Christmas naman siya ‘yung nandun sa family ko,” he said.

In other news, Zanjoe takes on intense, violent scenes in his “Maalala Mo Kaya” episode with Valerie Concepcion, whom he hesitated “hurting” for the scene.

"Sinabi ko sa dad niya kung ano ang intentions ko, in-open ko . . ." he said.

Peñaflorida, who caught CNN's attention for his "pushcart classroom" for urban poor youth, said he started having feelings for the 24-year-old actress when they accidentally bumped into each other in a US-bound flight last November.

Locsin then was bound for New York to attend the International Emmy Awards where she was nominated for a Best Actress award, while Peñaflorida was en route to Hollywood to accept the CNN award.

"It was really unexpected," Peñaflorida said of their first face-to-face encounter.

CEBU, Philippines - In Yahoo’s celebrity search rankings for 2009, acting newbie Maricar Reyes emerged as the most searched Filipino celebrity, besting such showbiz personalities as Kris Aquino, Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera who have had more established careers. Reyes' claim to fame this year was unfortunately through the series of sex videos between her and celebrity doctor Hayden Kho which were leaked onto the Internet.

The top celebrity searches in the Philippines are:

1. Maricar Reyes: The doctor-model turned actress was identified as controversial (ex) doctor Hayden Kho's partner in several sex videos that leaked to the internet (it was reported that she was his girlfriend then at the time the video was shot, when they were still both studying to become doctors). The sweet-faced Reyes' deafening silence and videos certainly stoked the interest of web-savvy Filipinos. Ironically, Katrina Halili, the other high-profile personality who also starred in the sex videos and who publicly condemned and charged Kho in court, didn't make it to the most searched list.

2. Angel Locsin: Her high-profile romance with showbiz heir Luis Manzano, and their eventual breakup, plus her series of TV projects, one of which landed her a Best Actress nomination at last month's International Emmys held in New York, have kept the actress on the internet radar this year.

3. Angel reluctant to star in new 'fantaserye?'

MANILA - Fresh from her experience at the 37th international Emmy Awards in New York, Angel Locsin attended the story conference for her upcoming teleserye “Kokey @ Ako” at the ABS-CBN compound last Monday.

A lot of people were actually surprised that she accepted the “fantaserye” right after her International Emmy nomination. Some said she should do another drama series that might give her another international recognition.

Locsin explained that joining “Kokey @ Ako” is her way of trying new roles and getting out of her comfort zone. This way, she added, she will be able to improve her craft.

“Ayoko din naman na pare-pareho ‘yong ginagawa ko para naman mahasa din ako. Kasi siyempre ang acting, learning experience din. Ayaw mo naman ma-stuck sa isang aspeto lang,” said the actress, who’s been in the industry for almost 8 years.

She added that “Kokey’s” storyline is “very interesting.”

“Tapos in-explain nila sa akin na hindi lang ito basta fantasy show….Madami kayong matututunang aral dito. Lalo na sa nangyaring Bagyong Ondoy at Pepeng. Kailangan natin turuan ang bata, maski tayong matatanda, kung papano alagaan ang environment,” she said.

Locsin will be playing the role of Jackie, a news reporter who will be involved in Kokey’s search for his missing baby sister as well his mission to save earthlings from a new set of evil aliens.

“Masaya ako dahil medyo matagal na akong hindi nakakalabas sa TV. And excited din ako kasi karamihan ng shows na nagagawa ko noon ay pambata. Tapos balik pambata ulit ako,” she said.

It will also give her a chance to work with directors Lauren Dyogi and Wenn Deramas and actor-comedian Vhong Navarro, she said. The actress said she is excited to work with Navarro, her new leading man.

During the story conference, Navarro kept telling Locsin that he’s “lucky” to have her as his leading lady, but the latter merely laughed at his funny antics.

When asked if she feels awkward with such references to her former boyfriend Luis “Lucky” Manzano, Locsin was quick to say that she’s already used to Navarro’s sense of humor.

Both Locsin and Navarro had done fantasy series in the past. Locsin was the lead star of "Lobo," while Navarro's last fantasy show was "Lastikman.”

The actor-comedian, who started as a member of dance group "Street Boys," said he will play the character of Bruce, a cameraman who will eventually fall in love with Jackie (Locsin).

The taping for “Kokey @ Ako” will start on December 15. It will premiere on ABS-CBN in January 2010, taking over the timeslot of hit teleserye “May Bukas Pa.”

Angel, Anne thrilled over Dolphy's biopic

MANILA - Actresses Anne Curtis and Angel Locsin shared their excitement after learning they may be included an upcoming biopic of the country's King of Comedy Dolphy.

In an interview, Locsin and Curtis said they would be honored to be part of the project.

"Wow, totoo? Well of course, it's such an honor and I'd love to be part of someone's biopic, especially because I've been able to work with him (Tito Dolphy). It's an honor," Curtis said.

"Wow, ngayon ko lang narinig ito. Sana matuloy kasi unang una, Tito Dolphy 'yan at si Direk Erick Quizon. Ilang taon kong naka-trabho 'yon. Yong thought na magampanan ko 'yong pinili niyang role sa akin (eh iba na). Sana matuloy, sana. Exciting," Locsin added.

According to director Eric Quizon, son of Dolphy, the biopic is part of the celebration for his father's 60th year in showbiz.

"There are plans na gumawa ng masasabi nating biopic, but that's all in the planning stage," Eric said.

If the project pushes through, the most interesting aspect of Dolphy's life is said to be his colorful love life.

When asked about actresses who can play the women in Dolphy's life, Eric replied: "Si Bea [Alonzo], nakikita ko, saka si Tita Grace [Engracia Domniguez], first wife ng daddy ko. Sa papel ni Tita Gloria [Gloria Smith], pwedeng si Angel [Locsin]. Sa papel ng mommy ko, pwedeng si Anne Curtis, Kristine Hermosa or Heart Evangelista. Sa part ni Lotis Key, pwede din si Anne Curtis. Part ni Tita Alma Moreno, pwedeng Angel Locsin."

Eric said he is confident he will be able to find the right people for these roles since the industry has a lot of good actresses.

"Masasabi natin marami tayong magagaling na young stars na maaring gumanap noon sa papel ng the women in Dolphy's life," Eric ended.

Dolphy's 65th year in showbiz

On November 27, Dolphy celebrated his 65th year in showbiz through a golf tournament organized by his children.

Dolphy's friends from in and out of showbiz participated in the "1st Pidol Cup" held at Eastridge Golf Club in Rizal.

Proceeds of the golf tournament will be go to the victims of recent typhoons.

The "Pidol Cup" will support the Habitat for Humanity through their on-going project called "Repair and Rebuild."

"The first annual Pidol Cup is the kick-off event because it's not going to be a one-day celebration. It's a whole year celebration. It starts up with this, and then the next event that we'll be having is, my dad has a movie called 'Nobody, Nobody But Juan.' Pagkatapos nun, marami pang iba," Eric said.

Those who were seen during the golf event were action star Monsour del Rosario, singer-composer Lito Camo, and actress Glydel Mercado.

Nobody, nobody but Juan

Dolphy's upcoming film, "Nobody Nobody But Juan," will be shown next month as an official entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

Eric, the film director, said his father will play Filipino-American elderly Juan dela Cruz. He also said that “Wowowee” main host Willie Revillame will play a vital role in the movie.

Dolphy explained the original plan was to have Revillame play a big role in the film, but due to the host’s hectic schedule, he could only commit to a cameo appearance.

Angel Locsin returns to TV with a fantasy series for kids

Wala raw binabalikang relasyon si Angel Locsin, kaya nang magkasira sila ni Luis Manzano, sa tingin ng marami ay malabo nang madugtungan pa ang relasyon nila.



Pero nang makapanayam si Angel ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa nakaraang story conference at pictorial para sa Kokey, tila di na ganoon katigas ang posisyon ng aktres.



"Yes, di ako naniniwala sa reconciliation, pero baka kainin ko ang mga salita ko," pag-amin ni Angel.



"Di ko naman maalis agad kung ano ang nararamdaman ko, kung ano ang mga pinagsamahan namin. Pero sa ngayon, mas okey pag friends muna kami," sabi ng aktres na nitong Nobyembre lang uling nakipag-usap kay Luis, apat na buwan matapos ang kanilang breakup.



PROUD OF LUIS. Si Anne Curtis ang ka-date ni Luis sa nakaraang 23rd Star Awards for TV kung saan nanalo siya as Best Male TV Host, samantalang Female Star of the Night naman si Anne.



Ayon kay Angel ay niyaya siya ni Luis na samahan ito pero hindi siya puwede noon.



"Nagtanong siya, pero di naman ako makakapag-provide ng gown nang ganun kabilis. Ayoko rin naman kasi may commitment din naman ako kinabukasan."



Pero nagpahayag ang aktres ng kagalakan nang matamo ni Luis ang karangalan.



"Sinabihan ako agad ni Luis nung manalo siya, same thing with Anne. Dapat lalabas kami ni Anne kasi nanalo siya as Star of the Night, pero antok na antok na ako kasi mayroon akong fun run kinabukasan ng 5:30 a.m. for McDonald's. Baka mahimatay ako sa fun run, di maganda, kasi tinatawag akong Darna tapos ganun ang mangyayari, di ba?



"Very proud ako kay Luis kasi alam ko kung paano niya seryosohin ang trabaho niya. Alam ko kung paano siya magtrabaho. I think deserve naman niya yun."



NO DATE FOR THE EMMYS. Di man pinalad si Angel na manalo sa 37th International Emmy Awards, kung saan nominated siya for Best Actress para sa teleserye na Lobo, masasabing nagbukas ito ng pinto para mapansin internationally ang mga shows na gawa dito.



Inimbitahan ni Angel si Piolo Pascual na maging kapareha niya sa awards night sa New York noong November 23, pero hindi ito puwede. Naging honest rin si Angel na inaya niya si Luis pero hindi rin siya nito napagbigyan.



"Tinext ko si PJ [Piolo] kung gusto niyang sumama sa Emmys. Sabi niya gusto naman daw niya. Nagpaalam naman siya, kaya lang di siya pinayagan kasi naghahabol sila ng taping for Lovers [in Paris]. Siyempre, siya ang in-invite ko dahil siya ang kasama ko din, ka-partner ko sa Lobo. Gusto kong ma-experience din niya.



"Oo, in-invite ko rin si Luis pero nanood siya ng Pacquiao... Medyo nagtampo lang ako sa kanya. Ang tagal naming di nag-usap tapos heto nga, parang naging okey na although friendship muna, tapos din dun siya kay Pacquiao. Ako, ang suporta ko sa Team Pacquiao, nandun siya kay Pacquiao-wan. 'Ok, dun ka muna.'"



WORKING WITH JOHN LLOYD. Magiging kapareha niya si John Lloyd sa sisimulang teleserye ng ABS-CBN at tiyak na mahahaluan ng love angle ang samahan nila. Sa isang panayam ay inamin daw ni Luis na masasaktan siya kung saka-sakaling mahulog ang loob nina John Lloyd at Angel sa isa't isa.



"Huwag muna siyang magselos kay John Lloyd," ang sagot naman ni Angel dito. "I don't think about those things kasi ang focus ko ay sa magiging trabaho namin ni Lloydie... Wala naman sigurong dapat ika-hurt o ano pa man kasi wala namang issue.



"Basta ako pag nag-start na kami ng show, magwo-workshop talaga ako, ayokong mapahiya kay Lloydie. Napakahusay niyang aktor, iba yung atake ni John Lloyd. Kaya niyang magpatawa, kaya niyang magpaiyak, ang galing! Sobrang intense actor talaga."



Sabi ni John Lloyd sa ibang interviews na medyo nailang daw siya nung ginagawa nila ang station ID ng ABS-CBN dahil kailangan niyang akbayan si Angel.



"Hindi, no, nang-aasar lang 'yun, baka raw may magalit. Nagbibiro lang si Lloydie," paliwanag ni Angel.



SERIES FOR KIDS. Habang di pa sinisimulan ang teleserye nila ni John Lloyd, isa munang fantaserye ang gagawin ni Angel. Ito ay ang Kokey, kung saan makakapareha niya si Vhong Navarro.



"Happy and excited ako. Ang tagal na rin akong di nakikita sa TV at ngayon babalik ako sa isang show na pambata. Excited ako kasi first time kong makakatrabaho si Vhong. Pangalawa, unit ito ni Direk Loren Dyogi, ibang atmosphere naman. Pangatlo, si Direk Wenn, first time ko siyang makakatrabaho din."



Masaya ring nagkuwento si Angel na habang tumatagal ay lalong dumarami daw ang sumusuporta sa kanila ni Anne sa proyekto nilang Shop and Share na almost half a million ang nalikom at naibigay na sa Philippine National Red Cross.



"Nag-donate si apl.de.ap ng Black Eyed Peas, na-touched talaga ako, sobrang nice-nice. Kasama niya ang family niya, pinuntahan ko siya sa hotel, nandun ang buong family niya kasi birthday niya. Nag-donate siya ng jacket, shirt, 'saka shoes.



"Si Efren Peñaflorida [CNN Hero of the Year in 2009] naman, nag-donate din. Facebook friends kami tapos nakakatuwa nga kasi nag-meet kami sa airport. Nag-good luck kami sa isa't isa. Siya mismo ang nag-offer sa suot niyang dog tag. Susuotin daw niya yun sa CNN, tapos pag siya ang nanalo, ipapa-auction niya. Na-touched ako kasi naalala pa niya yung promise niya. Ang sweet din niya kasi binigyan niya ako ng sarili kong trophy, 'Hollywood Best Hero.'"

Luis Manzano says he and ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin are talking again

Bago pa man nag-break sina Luis Manzano at Angel Locsin ay nakapagbitaw na ng salita ang aktres na wala siyang binalikan na ex-boyfriend niya. Ayon kay Angel, alam daw kasi niyang ibinigay na niya ang lahat ng maibibigay niya para ma-save ang nasabing relasyon. At pag natapos ito, nangangahulugan lamang na dapat na niyang tanggapin na wala na talaga siyang magagawa para ayusin pa ang isang natuldukan nang relasyon.



Sa kaso nina Luis at Angel, mukhang malabo na talagang magkabalikan ang dalawa, lalo't ganito nga ang pananaw ng aktres pagdating sa pakikipagrelasyon.



Sinang-ayunan naman ito si Luis nang makausap siya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).



"If you look at her track record, it's true naman na wala talaga siyang binalikan sa mga naging ex niya. But in life, in general, huwag tayong magsasalita ng tapos. Hindi ko siya pinaparinggan or anything, but, di ba, we never know what will happen?



"Basta ngayon, masasabi kong mas nag-mature kami, mas nag-mature kami on how we are as individuals. Let's say, hypothetically, nagkabalikan kami, we'd be totally different individuals in a good way," saad niya.



Ano naman ang reaksiyon niya sa sinabi noon ni Angel na nami-miss niya ang pinagsamahan nila, pero hindi si Luis mismo?



"Siguro nung nasabi niya yun, that was before yung mga naging usapan namin, when we decided to clarify kung anuman ang mga nangyari. Kahit ako, nami-miss ko kung ano kami dati at nami-miss ko siya at alam niya yun. Yun siguro what's behind her statement."



Pero inamin ni Luis sa PEP na bukas na uli ang komunikasyon nila ni Angel, at nakausap na rin niya ang ama ng aktres na si Mr. Angel Colmenares.



"We talked. Siguro we made the first step para maayos na namin kung anuman ang mayroon kami dati. Kung anuman ang mga naging isyu sa amin, medyo nabaon na namin. Siguro yun ang pinakaimportante dahil ang tagal naming hindi nakapag-usap, ang tagal naming hindi nagkita. Siguro ngayon, we have a steady phase na maayos kung nasaan kami ngayon. We're very, very happy.



"Nakapag-usap na rin kami ni Tito [Mr. Colmenares]. Nope, walang sumbatang nangyari, hindi ganun si Tito at hindi ko rin magagawa yun sa kanya. Tito is a very, very decent man. Nakapag-usap na kami and okey naman. Napakataas ng respeto ko kay Tito at sa buong pamilya ni Angel, at ganun din ang ipinakita sa akin ni Tito when we had a talk," lahad ni Luis.



NO THIRD PARTY. Tikom pa rin ang bibig nina Luis at Angel sa tunay na rason ng kanilang breakup. Pero lumabas ang mga pangalan nina Maricar Reyes at Anne Curtis, na nahuli raw ni Angel na ka-text ni Luis, na mukhang may ibang nangyayari. Naparatangan tuloy na babaero ang TV host-actor.



"Unang-una, kami ni Angel, never naming hinawakan ang phone ng isa't isa. Hindi kami ganung couple," paglilinaw ni Luis. "Si Maricar, first time na nakita ko siya at nakausap nang harap-harapan was the camera test ng Flash Bomba almost a year ago. Kasi siya dapat ang love team ko sa Flash Bomba.



"Next time ko na siyang nakausap was Star Magic Ball na itong huli [last August]. Would you imagine yung pagitan nun? You see kung gaano kalayo ang Flash Bomba sa Star Magic Ball? Kaya hindi ko alam kung saan nanggaling yung issue na 'yan. I won't deny that Maricar is a friend, yes, I got to talk her but nothing weird or special.



"Si Anne naman," patuloy ni Luis, "aminin man natin o hindi, matagal ko nang kilala si Anne kesa kay Angel. Marami na rin kaming pinagdaanan. 'Saka Anne, of all people, hindi na kinu-question kung gaano ko ka-best friend yung tao at nadamay pa sila sa issue namin ni Angel.



"Regarding that babaero issue, ang tagal ko nang naririnig 'yan. Sanay na ako. Dati pa namang issue sa akin 'yan, pero ang ayoko lang pag may nadadamay pang ibang tao na walang kinalaman. Diyan medyo napipikon ako kasi nanahimik yung mga tao na walang kaalam-alam."



ANGEL-JOHN LLOYD TEAMUP. Kumpirmado na ang pagtatambal nina Angel at John Lloyd Cruz sa isang teleserye ng ABS-CBN next year. Tinanong namin si Luis kung masasaktan ba siya kung sakaling malaman niya na sa pagsasama ng dalawa ay magkahulugan ng loob ang mga ito?



"I know they are both good people," sabi ni Luis. "Napakabait ni Angel. Hindi puwedeng kuwestyunin yun, alam ng buong bayan yun. At napakabait din ni Lloydie. If things are meant to happen, things are meant to happen. If not, hindi siya mangyayari.



"More of mawi-weirduhan siguro ako. Kasi, kumbaga, yung ex-girlfriend ko, tapos bigla na lang yung 'ex-love team' ko na si Lloydie na Kanto Boys. It's gonna be weird. Pero siguro kahit papaano, hindi mo matatanggal na ma-hurt ako pag nangyari yun. But of course, you have to understand things happen for a reason, the same way things don't happen for a reason."



"Ex-love team" ang turing ni Luis kay John Lloyd dahil sa pelikulang In My Life, kung saan gumanap sila bilang gay lovers.



FAMILY OF STARS AND POLITICIANS. Kumpirmado na ang pagtakbo ng ama ni Luis na si Edu Manzano bilang vice president sa 2010 elections. Si Edu ang ka-tandem ni Secretary Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro, na tatakbo namang presidente, sa ilalim ng Lakas-Kampi-CMD party.



"Nagulat ako nung malaman ko na tatakbo siya," sabi ni Luis. "When everything happened, I was in Las Vegas. Hanggang sa umabot nga sa akin yung balita na tumakbo siya. Nung una, hindi pa ako naniwala. But I know what he is capable of doing. I know yung pagkatao niya, his integrity as a person, and his capability of helping other people if he's given a position in the government. I have faith in my dad whether for vice president, for senator, or kung ano pa man," pahayag ni Luis.



Ilang araw pagkatapos ianunsiyo ni Edu ang kanyang pagtakbo bilang vice president ay inamin nito ang breakup nila ng news broadcaster na si Pinky Webb. "Matagal-tagal na sila," sabi ni Luis. "Kung anuman ang naging problema, sana maayos nila 'cause I guess as a couple, they've been through a lot talaga. Hindi ko alam kung totoo na kaya sila nag-break is because of that, not until I heard from them. I don't want to speculate kasi medyo it's a personal matter. Until I heard talaga from daddy or kay Pinky, di muna ako magko-comment."



Bukod kay Edu, tatakbo rin sa 2010 elections ang ina at stepfather ni Luis na sina Batangas governor Vilma Santos at former Senator Ralph Recto. Parehong for re-election ang tatakbuhin ng mag-asawang Recto.



Maging si Luis ay nababalita ring tatakbo. Ano ang masasabi niya rito?



"Sabi ko nga, tatakbo ako sa barangay tanod!" biro niya. "But kidding aside, not yet. Maybe next election, but definitely not now kasi marami pa akong dapat gawin sa industriya. Let's see, I'll just cross the bridge when I get there. Kumbaga, hindi ko isinasara ang pinto ko sa pulitika."

Online fashion critics drub Angel Locsin’s Emmy’s gown

A million pesos worth of disaster is how fashionistas describe the gown Angel Locsin wore at the recently concluded Emmy Awards.

Blogger Dailyfashionista called the gown designed by Dubai-based Michael Cinco, “a disastrous dress.”

“I love Angel Locsin, but for a 1 million peso dress c'mon! They should have given her much, much more. Perhaps, an Inno Sotto or a Monique Lhuillier creation,” she went on.

“Geez....sooo wrong. Angel Locsin resembles like a legendary bird in Slavic mythology Alkonost in this hideous ummm...gown?...shoosh!”

For Michelle Halpern of Stylecaster.com, the dress is “dangerously reminiscent of Bjork's swan-inspired dress from 2001.”

“And when we say dangerous, we don't mean dangerously sexy.”

Though some of Locsin’s fans came out to defend her in various online fora, not a few agreed with the observation, with one lamenting that the gown wasn’t representative of Locsin’s personality.

“It just wasn’t her.”

That said, there are other fans who blame Cinco for going over the top with the beads and the Swarovski crystals, calling the gown “a mistake” akin to something “a beauty pageant candidate from the ‘80s” would wear.

Another fan wrote that the six-kilo gown made Locsin look “awkward and fat.”

Early on Locsin’s camp crowed of her triumphant Emmy’s red carpet walk, calling her “the crowd favorite” and her gown, a “head turner.”

“She really stands out dahil ang ganda ng long gown niya. Everyone is staring at her. Everybody is staring at her gown,” the young actress’ manager Becky Aguila reported at the time.

Locsin travelled all the way to New York for the 37th edition of the long-running award organization to vie for the best actress plum.

She was nominated for her portrayal of a she-wolf in the ABS-CBN teleserye "Lobo." Locsin inevitably lost to veteran British actress Julie Walters (“A Short Stay in Switzerland,” BBC, United Kingdom).

Locsin is the second Filipina to be nominated under the best actress category in the competition. Her nomination came 20 years after Tessie Tomas’s for her role as former first lady Imelda Marcos in “A Dangerous Life.”

Cinco, one of Preview Magazine’s “Designers to Watch,” once claimed to have dressed the likes of Naomi Campbell and Dita von Teese among others.

A grateful Angel returns home

MANILA – Movie and television actress Angel Locsin returned home Saturday night after attending the 37th International Emmy Awards in New York in the United States.

Locsin, who was nominated for her performance in ABS-CBN teleseries "Lobo," failed to grab the best actress award, but she said she is still grateful for being nominated and to be part of the prestigious event.

Locsin said she is also proud that many international journalists have been captivated by her Filipino-designed gown.

“Nakakatuwa kasi na-appreciate nila ‘yong gown ko. Kinakausap nila ako ng iba’t ibang language. May taga-Brazil, China… I’m happy na na-appreciate nila ang gown ko.… Just being there, sobrang honor na,” she said.

The actress also thanked ABS-CBN for giving her the opportunity to be part of “Lobo.” She was also grateful to her leading man, Piolo Pascual, who sent her a bouquet of flowers before the gala night.

“Hindi pa ako makapag-react kasi di ko naman sure kung [sa kanya nanggaling] ‘yon. Noong makita ko na sa kanya nga, happy ako. Very happy ako at nakatrabaho ko si Piolo,” she said.

Locsin is the second Filipina to be nominated under the best actress category in the competition.

She followed Tessie Tomas who was nominated for her role as former first lady Imelda Marcos in the 1989 film "A Dangerous Life."

Meanwhile, Malaysian actress Carmen Soo also said she is proud to be part of another International Emmy nominee, “Kahit Isang Saglit.”

Sa panayam sa kanya ng The Buzz kahapon, Nov. 29, ay sinabi niyang: "Kakaiba, kakaibang experience talaga siya na it's nice na makalabas ako sa box. Kasi dito, iba yung culture, iba yung approach nila. Marami akong bagay na natutunan. Well, hindi naman ako magpapaka-plastic, siyempre mas magiging masaya ako pag nanalo talaga ako. Pero aarte pa ba ako, Julie Walters [veteran British actress] yung nanalo! Just to be in the same league with some of the finest and respected actresses in our generation, or sa buong mundo, is something that I can really be proud of.

Marami rin ang pumuri kay Angel sa kanyang kagandahan during the red carpet event. Certified headturner man ang aktres, nagpaka-humble ito at piniling purihin ang kababayan na gumawa ng kanyang glamorous gown.



"Proud ako siyempre Filipino designer siya, si Michael Cinco, yung gumawa ng gown ko. Punung-puno siya ng Swarovski. Siyempre happy ka na na-appreciate ng mga tao yung gawa ng Pilipino," sabi niya.



Hindi naman maiwasang tanungin si Angel tungkol sa ex-boyfriend niyang si Luis Manzano, lalo na't napabalitang tinawagan daw siya ni Luis Manzano during the awards night. Kinumpirma naman ito ni Angel.



"Binati niya ako nung sinabi ko na parang ano nga... right after ma-announce na si Ms. Julie Walters ang nanalo. Sinabi niya parang, 'It's okay by just being there.' Pero huwag na kayong mag-isip ng iba!" natatawang dugtong ni Angel.



WINNING QUALITY. Bukod sa karangalan ng pagkaka-nominate sa International Emmy Awards, isa sa winning qualities ni Angel na sinasang-ayunan ng buong bayan ay ang kanyang taus-pusong pagtulong sa mga nangangailangan.

Angel Locsin exults in joining the league of Julie Walters

“Just to be in the same league of some of the finest actresses in our generation sa buong mundo is something that I can really be proud of,” beamed Angel Locsin in her first interview back in Manila after attending the 37th International Emmy Awards in New York where she was nominated for Best Actress.

The “Lobo” lead star, albeit proud to have shared the nomination with winner Julie Walters, admitted that she would have been happier had she won.

“Di rin naman ako magpaka-plastik. Mas magiging masaya ako kung ako ‘yung nanalo.

“Pero aarte pa ba ko, eh, Julie Walters na ‘yung nanalo?” she confessed.

Despite her loss, Angel believes she still gained from her the Emmys experience.

“Kakaibang experience talaga siya. It’s nice na makalabas sa box. Kasi doon ibang culture, iba ‘yung approach nila. Marami rin akong bagay na natutunan,” she related.

Angel seems oblivious to critics who bashed her “swan gown” which was designed by Michael Cinco.

“Proud ako kasi Filipino designer siya, si Michael Cinco. At siyempre happy ka na na-appreciate ng mga tao ‘yung gawa ng Pilipino.”


Did Richard Gutierrez ask for Heart Evangelista’s heart?
Richard Gutierrez openly admitted during the “Don’t Lie to Me” segment of “Showbiz Central,” that he almost courted Heart Evangelista when she transferred to GMA-7.

“Nung time kasi na ‘yun, nasa akin ‘yung problema, medyo magulo ‘yung buhay ko. [But] I was attracted to her…still am,” confessed he who stars with Heart in the series “Full House.”

The Kapuso actor talked about ‘stealing’ kisses from his leading lady.

“Malalim kasi talaga ‘yung pinagsamahan namin ni Heart. [And] may lisensya naman dahil andun naman ‘yung staff and crew. Mas maganda kung natural ‘yung reaction [sa scene],” he said.
