Angel Locsin was born and raised in the Philippines, and though her parents split up when she was 14, much of her adolescence was spent in the care of both her mother and father. Her entry into the entertainment industry was fortuitous, as she was spotted by a talent scout while skipping school and hanging out at a nearby mall. Following a series of auditions for local commercials and advertisements, Angel Locsin was offered a contract with GMA Network -- one of the biggest television networks in the Philippines -- and she soon made her debut on a teen program, Click.
Her popularity among male viewers skyrocketed after she appeared on the cover of FHM Philippines, and she has since been featured prominently within their pages -- she's become a staple in their special 100 Sexiest Women in the World issues and has been ranked first and second on the list.
Her burgeoning fame and increased notoriety led to several movie and TV roles, including 2000's Ping Lacson, Supercop, 2004's Singles and 2005's Let the Love Begin. Angel Locsin has never been afraid of controversy, as evidenced by her brief stint as a pitchwoman for Axe deodorant. In this role, she was featured in a risqué commercial which was eventually pulled after viewers complained about its content. Angel Locsin has also starred in the romantic film The Promise alongside Richard Gutierrez, and she stepped into the shoes of well-known Philippine comic-book heroine Darna in the film adaptation Darna: The Movie.
2006 was a busy year for Angel Locsin as she appeared on the TV shows Majika, and the movies TxT, I Will Always Love You and Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di. Then, in 2007, Angel Locsin had roles on television in Asian Treasures and Maalaala Mo Kaya: Pilat and on the big screen in The Promise and Angels. Her '08 projects included ASAP '08 (TV) and I Knew I Loved You (film).
